Testimonials
“I have had the two-fold opportunity to attend training provided by Mike Pribble, and to see his de-escalation techniques put into practice in a variety of settings. As an educator, Mr. Pribble presents the course material in an effective and engaging way. He ensures that participants who complete his training are prepared to recognize potential conflicts and to use verbal de-escalation techniques to prevent those conflicts from becoming crises.
In community and clinical settings, Mr. Pribble maintains an awareness of the environment while providing a calming presence to those around him. He employs his well-honed skills in a way that the untrained observer may not recognize, adding to the effectiveness of the techniques.
In summary, I recommend The Pribble Method to any individual or organization seeking to increase safety in crisis/conflict management.”

“I took annual trainings when working under Mike’s supervision that taught me and others how to remain calm in situations where others may be emotionally escalated. Mike would talk us through scenarios in these trainings and give demonstrations on verbal tactics to use in crisis situations. Throughout the trainings and after, he demonstrated professionalism and assertive communication skills to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively. He allowed us to feel confident in our own abilities to do the same. He is a great, thorough instructor that cares about keeping everyone as safe as possible at all times.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Mike for several years. During that time, I attended many crisis intervention classes and also witnessed Mike utilizing those techniques during times of crisis. Mike is an excellent communicator both in the classroom and in real life situations. His engaging personality and the way he incorporates his experience, makes his trainings relatable, easy to understand and enjoyable.”

"Mike offers caring, calming crisis intervention with safety of all parties involved being top priority. I witnessed him accomplish this personally, and attended several teaching sessions under his competent leadership. Mike not only taught de-escalation skills well, he effectively used verbal de-escalation skills in his daily work."
George H., Mental Health Worker
“I had deescalation training with Mike while working inpatient Psych. Mike is not only knowledgeable on the subject and obviously disciplined, but he exudes a calm presence paired with non-threatening confidence. I tended toward anxiety and flight when I was working there, and he helped me to feel confident in techniques and in my coworkers who were learning with me. We worked well as teams, recognizing who had rapport with different individuals and supporting each other. I saw Mike on many occasions with people who were quickly escalating and/or making threats of harm to others. He was able to calmly help ease their fears, help them feel seen and heard and often help them to a place where they stopped making threats against others. I never saw Mike bristle, be fearful, or defensive. He lived out what he taught, and his methods and manner were an amazing example to me. Life changing, really. While I no longer work in Psych, I feel confident now in the outside world in spotting escalations, voluntarily stepping in to help soothe when appropriate, and helping calm people by helping them feel seen and heard rather than threatened. In a world where people are constantly on the defense, this type of training is so vital. The world needs more of Mike’s training and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.”

“Hello! My name’s Corynne I used to work with Mike on a psychiatric unit as a Mental Health Technician. Mike trained me regarding how to de-escalate and manage the individuals we served on a daily basis. After attending his training, I not only felt safer working on a psychiatric unit on a daily basis; I also felt like I was better equipped to serve the individuals we worked with. I learned not only how to keep those we served safe, but myself as well. Also, when I worked with Mike, I knew if I had any questions pertaining to how to de-escalate those we served or manage those we served, he would not only answer those questions, he would do so in a manner that made me feel better equipped to handle the crisis situations I handled on a daily basis. I always felt safer when I knew I was working with Mike. If you’re looking for a training that will better equip your staff to do their jobs efficiently, look no further than Mike’s training!”

"I was a little concerned about the first day of training. However, as soon as Mike began talking in his calm and confident voice, I immediately felt at ease. He is very knowledgeable about all the verbal de-escalation techniques and demonstrated how to use each one of them while working with our patients.
While working with Mike for a few years, I was able to see this for myself. He was always able to calmly approach, handle and solve any situation that came up during our shifts together. He was able to assist any patient during their crisis in the appropriate manner in order to keep everyone safe. After a situation was over, he would also check on staff to make sure everyone involved was doing okay. He is someone that knows how to use verbal de-escalation skills, has the ability to adequately teach them to others, and is definitely a role model for others to learn from."

“I can’t tell you the number of times, in the 6 1/2 years that I worked on an inpatient psych unit with Mike, that either he directly, or the skills he taught our team, saved someone’s life.”
Amy S., Social Worker
"As an overweight female, I absolutely dreaded the de-escalation and crisis trainings I was required to complete each year. They were humiliating. I could not believe how comfortable I felt in Mike's training sessions. I actually enjoyed participating in the physical activities for the first time ever and began to have confidence in what I was learning. Mike was kind, patient, and considerate of the limitations my size presented but never called me out about it or embarrassed me in front of the class as other program instructors had done in the past. He tailored his instructions to what I was capable of doing and what would keep me safe in each scenario. I highly recommend him to anyone who has ever been uncomfortable in these types of trainings."
LS, RN
"Working with Mike in a crisis situation I always knew that patients and staff would be safe. Mike was approachable and respectful to staff and patients no matter the situation. The number one priority was to keep all safe. Mike's training was effective and easy to apply. Implementing the techniques taught by Mike proves useful in verbal de-escalation."
Eva S., RN
"I have worked in the mental health setting for nine years. Mike was on my team for four of those nine years. Not only was he a valued team member but he was also my trainer. He trained me in the proper techniques for recognizing the onset of a crisis situation as well as teaching me the tools in handling them with care. Mike strived for safety on the unit for both the clients and staff. I valued Mike on my team but I also value Mike as a sincere and compassionate soul. I would gladly work with him again if given the opportunity."
Diana E., LPN

"I worked Night Shift with Mike for several years on an adult Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, and there's no one I've ever trusted more in a violent and dangerous situation than him. He has kept me safe more times than I can count, and there's no one I respect more as a crisis situation instructor because he's been in those situations on a regular basis. I never once saw him lose his cool and he has de-escalated situations I never thought possible. Our team had no Security, no luxury of extra staff to respond from offices. We were a bare-bones Night Shift and had only each other to depend on to keep patients and staff safe. I've sat under him in crisis management classes and learned how I can handle situations better and keep myself safe and I've taken that knowledge with me throughout my career. I am a Registered Nurse with over 15 years of acute psychiatric experience. I have since worked for one of the most violent State Psychiatric Hospitals on the East Coast as well as a Psychiatric ER of one of the most prestigious medical systems in the nation and I've never seen a more competent nor caring instructor than Mike. The knowledge he possesses can only be learned from years of highly volatile, real-world situations. Mike was highly respected by staff and patients alike. I've supervised him in countless physical and mechanical restraint situations and he absolutely knows appropriate physical techniques to keep himself and others safe. More importantly, I've seen him even more often help prevent a crisis situation from ever escalating to that point. There is no one I can recommend more highly and confidently for crisis training than Mike Pribble."

"I've had the absolute blessing, luck, opportunity and honor to be able to attend an important course with an amazing mentor leader. Mike has consistently went above and beyond to handle such a necessary topic of deeescalation, maintaining safety and remaining in and under control in seemingly out of control events and moments. Mike taught us step by step processes and techniques to protect people around us and ultimately ourselves. He goes above and beyond to cover every single detail and does not move forward until you are completely confident in your abilities and muscle memories. He balances each course with a question/ answer session where he truly makes you feel like there is no such thing as a dumb question and enough practicing and role playing a variety of real life scenarios while maintaining a safe learning supportive monitored environment where every person is included, engaged and encouraged to the max. He will not let you fail. During role plays Mike is extremely attentive and monitors each participant as they perform the motions to ensure everyone is learning correctly and building confidence, comfortability and familiarity. He is well spoken. adaptive to every type of audience, communicates effectively with clear direction broken down in a multitude of ways that people of all learning styles and speeds are able to leave his class learning the most they could. He is for sure a subject matter expert. I left every class confident in my abilities to protect my team, my patients and myself."

"Mike has a calm demeanor and a gift for de-escalating his patients. He’s the guy you want when in a crisis situation."
Michelle S., ADON
After working hands-on and in a training setting with Mike, I am confident in his abilities as a trainer and team member. From my experience with Mike, he has been able to identify behaviors in individuals before a crisis occurs, assesses risk and chooses the best intervention, as well as, uses verbal and nonverbal techniques to resolve a crisis before it can become escalated. He is effective in teaching adult learners about de-escalation techniques and educates them about the risks of restraints and how to do it safely.

I’ve worked with Mike Pribble over the past 15 years and have been able to observe him in a variety of positions and situations. In the beginning of our professional relationship, Mike worked as a mental health technician on an acute psychiatric unit. This unit accepted patients in various stages of behavioral health crisis and presented countless opportunities for therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques and crisis management. After witnessing Mike’s ability to manage these situations with patients and staff and seeing the positive outcomes of his interventions, we recognized that investing in his continued development would be very beneficial to the success of the unit and the company as a whole.
Mike accepted a leadership position and was very successful in identifying, training and managing quality staff which led to a drastic increase in patient safety outcomes as well as patient and staff satisfaction scores. Due to his noticeable talent concerning the above, Mike was identified by leadership and offered a position as trainer of the behavioral management and de-escalation program.
Mike excelled in this position as well and through education was able to effectively teach his skills to others. His training methods are engaging, applicable to actual practice and he conveys them in a way that allows the learner to feel confident in using them in their own practice.
If you are looking for strengthened clinical skill, improved patient outcomes, increased staff education and confidence in an environment that is conducive to learning, I would highly recommend Mike Pribble’s services for your company.

Mike was very easy to work with and very easy to learn from. He made the skills easy to understand and made sure I understood the skills and the purpose behind the need to use them. In real life use of crisis intervention Mike always had a level head and brought a calm demeanor to the situations which was a great help. He always supported me during crisis situations and followed up after to debrief and make sure we as staff were supported and we’re ok to transition back to our duties. I truly appreciated Mike's passion for his job and skills.

"I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Mike for five years. His ability to maintain safety in a crisis situation was proven time and time again. Mike not only responds with a cool and steadfast manner, but prevented countless escalations with his ability to respond and relate to someone experiencing severe emotional dysregulation. One incident in particular I recall is when Mike responded to a behavioral crisis and aggressive outburst in an inpatient setting where he prevented a patient from physically harming myself and other patients. Bottom line...he is the best at what he does!"
